At a very low point during my life, I decided to challenge myself to do a recreation every day for the 31 days the Shotdeck Recreations Contest, where participants were asked to recreate stills from various movies, shows, and music videos using only what they had on hand. I made it to 23 recreations before burning out.

Despite that, my effort was still recognized both by Shotdeck and British Cinematographer Magazine when I was selected as the MVP / Grand Prize winner of that year. I was given the Sony FX3 that I still use today, and that win was the thing that lifted me above other candidates and allowed me to be accepted into university to continue perusing my passions.
